Collective Sheet Mask Review
Recently I've been on a skincare craze. It all started when my friend sent me a package with some sheetmask inside along with some other goodies. Since then I've been obsessed! Especially since all things k-beauty related has been really kicking off here recently. Even elf is jumping on the train! The good thing is that if you're just starting out like I am, you don't have to spend so much money to build your collection.
If you are just starting out with a skincare routine or specifically a Korean skincare routine the most inexpensive way to start is with sheetmasks. The good thing is that you can pretty much find them anywhere theses days. Target has recently starting carrying them and I've found some really good ones from TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Ross, even Burlington. Now CVS has also started carrying them! I need to make sure to check out mine.
One of the first masks I will be talking about is this Epielle 3 Step collagen mask. It claims to revitalize and rejuvenate tired skin. It was my first time trying a 3 step mask and step 1 was a bubble cleanser. You apply on dry akin and leave it on for 30 seconds, durning those 30 seconds it starts to bubble up and then you just massage it in and rinse.Afterwards my skin felt soft and not at all dry.
Step 2 is the concentrated moisturizing serum. I'm not sure if I put too much on but after massaging and tapping it into my skin, it wouldn't absorb. Maybe it was supposed to be this way? I'm not sure but I did end up waiting before massaging it again. I do have to say that both step 1 and 2 had a very pleasant yet faint smell to them. Step 3 is of course the sheetmask itself which I believe is a thick woven cotten so no accidental ripping. The fit was nice, better than others I've tried before. It was soaked in a water like gel, like really soaked, so much that I had enough left over to pat into my face, neck and chest! I do have to say that it did leave a sticky feeling but soon went away after it completely dried.
Up next is this Master Lab Vitamin C Intensive Brightening Mask which was gifted to me by my friend Mon. The material of the mask was super thin! So the fit was amazing! Maybe a little bit big. It has vitamin c (ascorbic acid) and licorice root extract.I left it on for about 30 minutes and my skin did look brighter. The only downside was that it did leave my skin a bit sticky afterwards.
Then I have this Masquelogy Vita Clarifying cream mask. This is probably my favorite so far! I picked mine up from Walmart for about $2.50 and it has a wonderful smell. Being a cream mask instead of a watery essence it had a lightweight cream. The sheet itself was soft, maybe a cotton blend? And very stretchy so the fit was amazing. After taking it off my skin felt very moisturized and looked very dewy. It did have a slight sticky and somewhat oily feeling but the the following morning my skin did feel the best it ever has.
Next I have The Creme Shop Witch Hazel Infused mask. It claimed to combat acne and blackheads, minimize excess oil and protect against sun damage. I was super excited to try this one because witch hazel is known for its healing properties, reducing inflammation and swelling. It was saturated and very cooling. I did feel a little tingling but it went away quickly. I can't say much about it fighting acne or helping with my blackheads. I might haveto use it more often to notice any real difference.
Now we have my least favorite one..Jean Pierre Aloe sheet mask. It claimed to heal, rejuvenate, hydrate and refresh skin. It has anti inflammatory properties to reduce acne and blemishes but for me it did absolutely nothing. Zip. Nada. Zero. Which is sad because aloe itself is wondeful for the skin (even hair) putting it on I immediately notice it had a weird smell to it.. It did have somewhat of a cooling effect which was nice but that's where all the good ends, It did nothing for my skin, didn'tgheal it in any way and just left my face super sticky which is something I don't really like.
I also have this super fun panda mask that Mon sent me as well! I think it's a brightening mask? I didn't really see any effect but it was a fun and cute mask to use. It even had ears on it!
And finally I have the Holika Holika 3D Medi Aqua mask sent to me by Skin.18. It has glacier water, hyaluronic acid and betaine, making it a super moisturizing mask! The sheet itself was very difficult, is no wonder why they call it a 3D mask. The sheet was textured, and folds right down the middle. It had a cloth like feel with the ripples but also felt very soft yet strong. They are designed to adhere to your face and the best part? They also had an attached part for your neck! My skin was left moist, soft and supple. This was also one of my favorite mask
Do you guys use sheet mask? Have any favorites or recommendations? I'd love to hear them!
